Avocado Dip | Easy Dip Recipe
One of the easiest ways I’ve found to enjoy more raw veggies is by pairing them with a flavorful dip. This avocado dip is not only creamy and delicious, but it’s also incredibly simple to make. The addition of crème fraîche enhances the richness with a subtle tang, while also helping to stretch the avocado further. A handful of other basic ingredients are added for a quick, tasty recipe that’s perfect for gatherings or solo snacking.
Ingredients
This avocado dip recipe only requires one avocado, but it must be ripe! A really easy way to ripen your avocados faster is to keep them in a fruit bowl along with some bananas. The gases released by the bananas (ethylene) helps anything nearby to ripen quicker. Once they’re perfectly ripe you can store them in the fridge to make them last a bit longer.
Creme fraiche is also used in this recipe, you can use vegan or dairy version. Oatly do a good vegan creme fraiche.
The only other ingredients are garlic, salt and pepper, a little lime juice, olive oil and chilli flakes or fresh herbs (optional)
You can customize this recipe easily by adding in any fresh herbs you have on hand. I used coriander but chives or parsley would also work.
Making the Avocado Dip
To make the avocado dip, squeeze one ripe avocado out of its skin into a medium sized bowl. Mash it up really well with a fork. If you want it to be perfectly smooth, use a pestle and mortar (or a molcajete if you’re really posh)
Add in a dollop of creme fraiche, minced garlic, a squeeze of half a lime. Mix well to combine, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
This dip is best served straight away, but it can be stored for a day in an air-tight container in the fridge.
When ready to serve, add a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of fresh herbs or chilli.
Serve with tortilla chips, veggie sticks or anything else you love to dip! It also goes really well on a crunchy salad wrap or sandwich with any protein of choice.
